Podgorica, Montenegro (30 March 2012) – The visit by high Chinese officials and the signing of several bilateral agreements will propel further development of traditionally good relations between Montenegro and the People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister of Montenegro Igor Lukšić said at his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of China Hui Liangyu earlier today.
Prime Minister Lukšić noted that in the coming period the two countries should look to enhance economic, cultural, and political cooperation. He added that Montenegro has plenty of investment opportunities that it can offer to China’s investors, especially in tourism, agriculture, energy, industry, transportation, and maritime.
Deputy Prime Minister Hui noted that all countries should be treated with same concern, regardless of their size, and that China aims to cherish good relationships with all states and a policy of peace in international relations. He added that a large economy such as China has had a long path reform, just as many smaller countries, and underlined that all developing countries must pursue the policy of open doors and reform. In that sense, he said he was glad Montenegro is taking the same approach, concluding that reforms are the right way towards full economic development.
