Montenegro’s EU progress to benefit the whole region,PM Lukšić and European Parliament's Kukan agree
Podgorica, Montenegro (3 April 2012) -- The Government is strongly committed to the continuation of the European integration process and reforms in all areas significant for further Montenegro’s European journey and more quality life of its citizens. By the same token, the Government has been making extensive efforts to fulfill the European agenda with the aim of opening the accession talks with the EU in June, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić underlined at a meeting with the delegation of the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Committee earlier today.
“The opening of the accession talks is a historical chapter for Montenegro and a great opportunity for further development which will influence the whole region”, PM Lukšić noted.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee Eduard Kukan welcomed Montenegro’s success in meeting its strategic foreign policy goals which will benefit the region as a whole, adding that the opening of the negotiation chapters 23 and 24 is a guarantee for the continuation of the country's reform process.
The meeting concluded that the Government’s dialogue with social partners and civil society is essential for further democratisation of the society, respect for human rights and the overall progress of Montenegro.
