Montenegro, Albania set to empower bilateral, regional cooperation

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 April 2012) – Montenegro and Albania traditionally enjoy good bilateral relations which have been additionally enhanced by top-level contacts, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić remarked at a meeting with Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto earlier today.

By the same token, PM Lukšić reiterated the Government’s determination to continue to empower good neighbourly relations at all levels.

“We will carry out to develop good relations with all our neighbours. Individual progress of each country of the region has a positive effect on all EU aspiring countries,” he said.

Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto noted that Albania strongly supports Montenegro's NATO bid ahead of the NATO Summit in Chicago. He also welcomed the regional cooperation in terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration aimed at creating conditions for more quality life in this part of Europe.

The two officials agreed that further cooperation between the two countries will be additionally upgraded by economy and tourism cooperation agreements which are to be implemented in the coming period.
