PM Lukšić: Energy plays key role in Montenegro-Italy economic cooperation
Rome, Italy (10 May 2012) -- Italian investors play strategic role in developing Montenegro’s potentials, particularly in the field of energy but also in other spheres of economy, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić told the press following the meeting with his Italian counterpart Mario Monti in Rome late afternoon.
In that regard, he especially pointed out to the construction of the seabed cable between Montenegro and Italy that will benefit the whole region, as well as Italy as it will gain access to new energy resources.
PM Lukšić added that, during his official visit, he will have opportunity to meet Italian business people and discuss possibilities for upgrading economic cooperation between the two countries.
He thanked PM Monti and his Government for the support to Montenegro’s EU and NATO bids, particularly referring to their assistance in fighting against organised crime as one of Montenegro’s key challenges on its way to these institutions’ membership.
“I hope that good progress we have had in battling organised crime will definitely continue in time to come through respective offices, prosecutors’ offices, police departments or any other segments of our two governments,” PM Lukšić concluded.
