Minister Milica Pejanović-Đurišić meets the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Arben Imami

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, Arben Imami, has stated that Albania will support Montenegro on its path towards full membership in NATO and expressed hope that the Chicago summit will mark the last stage of the accession of Montenegro to the North Atlantic Alliance.  Albanian Minister of Defence said that, above all, it is in the interests of the citizens of Montenegro to ’be member of NATO’, since it will ensure ’not only the security but prosperity of the country will be guaranteed in other areas of the country as well’.

Imami has said that Albania has gained a billion of foreign investment for only one year after the entry into NATO, which is 30 times more than in 2005.

Minister Pejanović - Đurišić has said that Albania, as a NATO member, may share its experience with Montenegro with regard to the process of accessing and full integration.

“In addition to that,  we expressed willingness to help each other and to properly identify what, by the concurrence of natural and other circumstances, these two countries makes depending on one another. In this context, we talked about raising the level of safety and security in this part of the Balkans, which is primarily related to the basin of the Adriatic Sea, the border of Lake Skadar and the river Bojana“ -said Pejanovic - Djurisic.

During the meeting, it is also discussed about initiatives in the area of  Smart Defense system, as well as joint projects in the control of air space, coastal area and sea.
