US Deputy Assistant Secretary praises Montenegro reform process, expects good news from Chicago NATO Summit
Podgorica, Montenegro (15 May 2012) -- Montenegro has pursued a quality reform agenda since restoring independence and the USA is ready to be its partner in further European and Euro-Atlantic integration efforts, US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker underlined at his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Roćen on Monday.
He also commended the Montenegrin solders' professionalism and commitment, as well as the country’s overall contribution to ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary said that Afghanistan will take centre stage in the forthcoming NATO Summit in Chicago. But, also the foreign ministers of NATO member states and the countries aspiring for NATO membership (28+4) will meet together during the Summit and Montenegro will attend the meeting, he added.
The two officials also discussed the possibilities for boosting economic cooperation and creating conditions to attract American investors. In that regard, the good news that are expected from Chicago, as well as Montenegro’s overall progress, will positively affect the investment climate in the country and the region, Mr Reeker underlined.
