Minister Pejanovic-Djurisic had a series of bilateral meetings during the participation at the Summit in Chicago
During the participation at the NATO Summit in Chicago, Defence Minister, Prof. Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic, PhD had a series of bilateral meetings with Defence Ministers of Norway, Croatia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. On the meeting margin, the Minister talked with the Defence Secretary of the USA, Defence Ministers of Germany, France, Albania and Luxembourg, as well as with the Commander of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
The interlocutors rewarded Montenegro for its progress in defence reform, while they emphasized the significant contribution of Montenegro to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan as a great recommendation for its early membership to NATO.
During the meeting with Defence Minister of Croatia, Mr. Ante Kotromanovic, importance of participation of Balkans region countries to the ISAF mission was emphasized. In order to meet the reduction of ISAF forces, it was agreed to consider the joint participation of the Region countries in the consulting teams that will play a significant role in building capacity of Afghan Security Forces.
During the talk with Defence Minister of Norway, Mr. Espen Bart Eiden, Minister Pejanovic-Djurisic thanked Norway for its continuous support to several projects carried out in Montenegro. The Norwegian Minister expressed his willingness in continuation of good cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of building the systems of human resources development and management, improving maritime security in the Region, the process of destroying surplus weapons and ammunition, as well as in achieving NATO standards.
