Prosecutor files charges against president and judge of court in Cetinje

Podgorica, Montenegro (21 June 2012) – The Office of Supreme State Prosecutor has filed charges against the President of the Basic Court and a judge in the municipality of Cetinje for committing offence of judicial corruption.

Goran Vrbica, President of the Basic Court in Cetinje, and Nebojša Marković, a judge of the Basic Court, have been charged of having committed the criminal offence of abuse of office in the period from 26 March – 2 April 2007.

By issuing a decision that was contrary to the provisions of the Law on Non-Contentious Procedure, followed by the unlawful payment of money which was deposited for safekeeping to the Court, Vrbica and Marković enabled the legal entity “Framec” SPA Italy, which was not a party to the proceedings, to acquire material gain in the amount of EUR 800.000, to the detriment of the Budget of Montenegro, the Prosecution Office said in a press statement.
