IMF continues to support Montenegro efforts in stabilising public finances, renewing economic growth

Podgorica, Montenegro (28 June 2012) – Prime Minister Igor Lukšić met with newly appointed Chief of the International Monetary Fond's (IMF) mission to Montenegro Nadeem IIah in Podgorica earlier today.
The meeting discussed the current economic issues with a focus on public finances, structural reforms and improvement of business environment. It agreed that, in previous period, the progress has been made in the area of fiscal adjustment and that new measures aimed at economy recovery, new investments and entrepreneurship should be continued.
PM Lukšić thanked the IMF for its support to Montenegro, especially in times of crises, when the Government reached bold and responsible decisions, which contributed to the reduction of public consumption and the maintenance of budget stability.
Mr IIah pledged the IMF’s comprehensive support to Montenegro in implementing measures aimed at stabilising public finances and renewing economic growth.
