EC's Sannino: Combined efforts of all Montenegro's stakeholders made opening of EU negotiations possible
Podgorica, Montenegro (5 July 2012) – Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enlargement Stefano Sannino congratulated Montenegro on the track record it has developed to date, stressing that combined efforts of all social stakeholders made the progress possible.
Director General Sannino said that he was always confident of the country's capacity to fulfil all the requirements necessary to open negotiations. He also expressed confidence that joint efforts involving all forces of the society will bring the negotiations process to the successful conclusion.
Montenegro will reach its goal thanks to a very solid negotiation structure that has been put in place, he said. The chief negotiator is also doing a “remarkable job” in establishing the system that can support the country on its journey towards the EU membership, Mr Sannino told the press following his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Roćen in Podgorica earlier today.
