Podgorica, Montenegro (28 August 2012) – Montenegro’s progress in its EU integration process boosts the entire region, and is also another evidence of the EU continued enlargement policy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Human Rights Duško Marković and newly appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Mitja Drobnič, agreed at the meeting earlier today.

They praised the excellent cooperation the Montenegrin authorities have had with the EU Delegation and other EU partners to date. The intensive communication and partnership cooperation on common goals, are, in addition to the results of the state, the key to the progress of a candidate country that aspires to join the EU, the two officials agreed.

Ambassador Drobnič pointed out that the European Commission’s approach, with regard to Montenegro’s accession negotiations, will be based on monitoring the implementation of commitments, which will be set in real time and following an objective consideration of the current situation and capacities. He also remarked that the EU Delegation to Montenegro will continue to promote an image of Montenegro based on actual results.
