Montenegro hosts fifth regional youth camp on NATO integration "REACT 2012"
Podgorica, Montenegro (28 August 2012) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Human Rights Duško Marković opened the 5th Regional Euro-Atlantic Camp “REACT 2012“, which takes place from 28 August – 3 September 2012 in Mojkovac, Montenegro.
The camp, sponsored by the NGO "ALFA Centre', seeks to inform students about the issues related to Euro-Atlantic integration, regional cooperation and stability, military, defence and diplomacy.
Stability and security are the essence of each responsible politics and the source of democracy, economic progress, solidarity and human freedoms, DPM Marković said at the opening of the camp “REACT 2012” on Tuesday.
After regaining independence in 2006, DPM Marković noted, Montenegro continued to make decisions which contributed not only to the regional stability but to global stability goals as well.
“This is primarily concerned with our decision to recognise Kosovo's independence and our military participation in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Our interest is not only to contribute to the achievement of global stability, democracy and prosperity, but also to share responsibility for the challenges of the modern world,” he emphasised.
The numerous dangers and risks the world nowadays faces, such as terrorism, sabotage, weapons of mass destruction, cyber attack, organised crime and dictatorial regimes, require respond and cooperation based on the principle of collective security and so called “smart defence”, DPM Marković pointed out.
“The safest form of the collective security is NATO, which we will join not only to delegate a part of our security competences, but, together with all its member states, to share responsibility of preserving the values of the modern world: democracy, the rule of law, promotion of human rights and international cooperation,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
