More tourists visit Montenegro in 2012

Podgorica, Montenegro (2 October 2012) – In the first 8 months of 2012, 1.153.256 tourists visited Montenegro, which is 4.6% more compared to the same period last year. The tourists had 7.665.769 overnight stays, 4% more than in the first 8 months of 2011.

The revenues generated from tourism in the first 8 months of 2012 amounted to EUR 609 million, which is 3% more than in the same period last year.

Concerning the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, the most of them were realised from the tourists from the European Union, Russia and Serbia.

According to the Montenegrin Government’s estimates, there will be 2% more overnights in 2012, and the revenues generated from tourism will increase by about 3% compared to 2011.

In November 2012, Montenegro will host the congress of the German Tourism Association (DRV), which brings together thousands of German largest companies. Around 1000 representatives of tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, insurance companies, as well as a significant number of German media outlet, are to visit Montenegro during that period.
