Montenegro tourism revenues increase by 4.3% in first 9 months of 2012
Podgorica, Montenegro (30 October 2012) – In the first 9 months of 2012, 1.368.754 tourists visited Montenegro, 4.9% more compared to the same period last year. The tourists had 8.888.427 overnight stays, which is 4.3% more than in the first 9 months of 2011.
The revenues generated from tourism in the first 9 months of 2012 amounted to EUR 680 million, which is 4.3% more than in the same period last year.
Concerning the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, the most of them were realised from the tourists from the European Union, countries of the former Soviet Union, and Serbia.
According to the Montenegrin Government’s estimates, there will be 2% more overnights in 2012, and the revenues generated from tourism will increase by about 3% compared to 2011.
In November, Montenegro would be hosting the congress of the German Tourism Association (DRV), which brings together thousands of the German largest companies. Around 1000 representatives of tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, insurance companies, as well as a significant number of German media outlet, are to visit Montenegro in November.
