Prime Minister Igor Lukšić congratulated the US President Barack Obama on his re-election as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the cooperation between Montenegro and the USA has been friendly and constructive, PM Lukšić said, hoping for the bilateral relations to be “further enriched by new ideas and initiatives”.
As the two countries share similar values, it is of great importance for Montenegro to take part in peacekeeping missions around the world, especially in Afghanistan, PM LukšIć emphasised.
“Given that our relations are continuously strengthened by our shared values and goals, we are proud to serve in a number of peacekeeping missions around the world and to stand shoulder to shoulder with the troops of other NATO countries in Afghanistan,” he pointed out.
PM Lukšić thanked President Obama on his support to Montenegro and the region of the Western Balkans in meeting EU and NATO agenda.
“I wish to thank you personally, Mr President, for your policy of supporting Montenegro, and the entire region, in our efforts to join the European and Euro-Atlantic structures, based on our merits and progress in meeting the accession requirements”, Prime Minister Lukšić concluded.
