Podgorica, Montenegro (15 November 2012) – Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a bilateral agreement on the extradition of criminals in severe crimes cases earlier today in Podgorica.

The signing of the agreement is a confirmation of the two countries’ willingness to adopt and implement European standards in boosting capacities and policies concerning the fight against organised crime and corruption, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Human Rights Duško Marković told the press following the signing ceremony.

He voiced satisfaction with the two countries' judicial, prosecutorial and police cooperation that recently brought about major joint actions of apprehensing and prosecuting severe criminal organisations in particular related to drug trafficking.

The bilateral extradition agreements that Montenegro has already signed with Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia are being successfully implemented, DPM Marković noted, adding that Montenegro has had 37 active extradition cases with the three countries in 2012.
