Container homes successfully installed as medium-term solution for Konik refugee camp

Podgorica, Montenegro (27 November 2011) – A total of 212 containers for 150 families were successfully set up and are now housing around 800 people at the refugee camp Konik 1 in Podgorica, Operation Team for monitoring and coordination of activities set up following the fire that devastated the camp this summer reported yesterday.

The procedure of accommodating the people who lost their homes went as planned and the Operation Team is working towards ensuring electricity supply for the container homes.

In the following days, four new sanitary blocks will be built in the Konik camp, financed by the EU Delegation to Montenegro and the UNHCR office in Podgorica.
