As Montenegro is still facing the effects of the global economic crisis, the Government will focus its activities on pursuing policies that should stop the unfavourable economic trends, initiate economic recovery, growth and development, create new jobs, ensure an equitable distribution of the crisis burden and improve the standard of living, he explained.
In that regard, the 2013 agenda envisages the priorities related primarily to the maintenance of the financial stability, consolidation of the public sector through cutting public expenditure, advancing business environment and structural reforms in the area of labour and social welfare, health care, education and science, which should result in the improvement of the standard of living, through the creation of new jobs and provision of quality health services and better education.
The further enforcement of the regulatory reforms will create conditions for strengthening productivity and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, and for the increase of economic activity and foreign investments, as a precondition for the increase in GDP, employment and competitiveness of the Montenegrin economy. The measures that are to be undertaken in the areas of energy, tourism, transport and agriculture should encourage the overall economy growth and contribute to more balanced regional development, the Secretary-General to the Government stressed.
