DPM Lukšić, PM Gruevski: Montenegro and Macedonia need to boost economic cooperation

Skopje, Macedonia (15 February 2013) -- During his first official visit to the Republic of Macedonia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić met yesterday with Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

The meeting underlined that Montenegro and Macedonia cherish close partnership relations in the integration process and good cooperation at all levels, that should be further improved within numerous regional initiatives.

The two officials agreed that the economic ties between the two states do not correspond with the real capacities and discussed the possibilities for the advancement of the collaboration through the work of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation. They also addressed the mechanisams and actions that are to be undertaken within the available pre-accession funds in order to implement infrastructure projects of common interest.

DPM Lukšić and Prime Minister Gruevski reaffirmed the initiative for the exchange of experience in the field of economic diplomacy, improvement of business environment and establishment of the joint committee for the EU integration between the two states.
