Montenegro continues to improve relations with Switzerland and Ukraine
Podgorica, Montenegro (28 February 2013) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met with newly appointed Ambassador of Switzerland Jean-Daniel Ruch and Ambassador of Ukraine Oksana Slusarenko on Wednesday.
At the meeting with the Swiss Ambassador, PM Đukanović highlighted the two countries have been cherishing good relations, especially in the fields of economy and politics, adding that the presence of the Swiss investors in Montenegro provides a strong basis for strengthening economic collaboration between these two states.
The two officials underlined the significance of the cultural cooperation, adding that Montenegro will have its representatives at Eastern European countries CULTURESCAPES festival, which will be held in Basel.
As Switzerland and Serbia are preparing to take over the presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the meeting pointed out the role of the OSCE in providing support to the Western Balkans' efforts aimed at further democratisation of the society.
Montenegro is committed to close cooperation with the Government of Ukraine in fostering bilateral relations in the fields of common interests, such as economy, tourism, energy and investments, Prime Minister Đukanović pointed out at his meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine.
Ambassador Slusarenko pointed out that Ukraine will fully support Montenegro’s efforts in implementing its strategic goals. She invited PM Đukanović to make an official visit to Ukraine, during which the formal unveiling of the monument to the famous Montenegrin ruler and poet Petar II Petrović Njegoš will be organised.
The two officials agreed that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Budva, Montenegro, next month is another confimation of good collaboration between the two states.
