FM Eide: Norway appreciates Montengro's track record in implementing reforms

Oslo, Norway (8 March 2013) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.

Minister Eide pointed out that his country highly appreciates Montenegro's track record in pursuing reforms and that it pledges full support for Montenegro's EU and NATO bid.

DPM Lukšić thanked the Norwegian Government on its continued support for Montenegro's development processes and in particular for its NATO membership aspirations. He emphasised Norway's support in the fields of defence and judiciary reform and underlined Montenegro's commitment to reinforcing regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations as well as its dedication to economic recovery of the country.

The two officials agreed that the consolidated contract basis represents a strong incentive for strengthening bilateral ties. He voiced expectation for even greater presence of the Norwegian investors in Montenegro modeled on the successes accomplished by the Norwegian companies that are currently operating in Montenegro.

The meeting also addressed the advancement of multilateral relations, especially within the UN and the Council of Europe.
