Regional Cooperation Council justifies role of regional coordinator
Pogorica, Montenegro (2 April 2013) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić met with Goran Svilanović, Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), earlier today.
Over a five-year period, the RCC justified its role as a regional cooperation coordinator through providing support for the countries of the South Eastern Europe on their European path, the meeting concluded.
Mr Svilanović commended the progress of the Western Balkan’s countries in meeting European agenda, particularly referring to Montenegro's achievements, expressing belief that it will continue its dynamic negotiation process.
DPM Lukšić said that Montenegro remains committed to regional cooperation, fully promoting regional dialogue and good neighbourhood policy.
“We believe this is the best recommendation for the socio-economic development and progress towards European and Euro-Atlantic structures,” he underlined.
The basis goal of the Regional Cooperation Council is to support European and Euro-Atlantic integration in South Eastern Europe. The council plays a role of regional cooperation coordinator and assists in the work of relevant working groups.
