German Bundestag fully supports Montenegro's EU bid

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 April 2013) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met yesterday with the Chairman of the German Bundestag Committee on the Affairs of the European Union Gunther Krichbaum to discuss cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the German Bundestag. Mr Krichbaum also met with Deputy Prime Ministers Duško Marković and Igor Lukšić.
Chairman Krichbaum pointed out that German Parliament strongly supports Montenegro in the EU integration process, adding that the Government of Montenegro and Bundestag have developed extremely good cooperation.
PM Đukanović presented the results achieved during the first 100 days of his government, stressing that the Government will be focused on the projects and reforms in all relevant fields in order to maintain the current path towards the EU and NATO. He pointed out that Montenegro is focused on economic development and strengthening the rule of law with the view to enhancing the quality of life of citizens and legal security of tourists and investors.
The two officials exchanged the views on presidential elections and pointed out that the electoral process was held in a fair atmosphere.
During his visit to Montenegro, Mr Krichbaum also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Igor Lukšić and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Duško Marković. The officials underlined that Montenegro has shown responsibility in implementing reforms and has achieved notable progress in the EU accession process. DPM Lukšić and DPM Marković informed Mr Krichbaum about current activities in drafting the Action Plans for chapters 23 and 24 and highlighted that reforms in these areas will improve legal stability and sustainable economic growth of the state.
