Beijing, China (11 April) – Transport and Finance Ministers, Ivan Brajović and Radoje Žugić, met yesterday in Beijing with Chinese Transport Minister Yang Chuantang. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the companies interested in the construction of the high-way in Montenegro, the CCCC International (Chinese company for telecommunications and infrastructure) and the CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation).

The Chinese Transport Minister voiced expectation that the mutual cooperation in the transport sector will be an additional incentive for the existing good cooperation between the two countries. He said that the CCCC and the CRBC are renowned, state-owned companies, which have made a huge contribution to road infrastructure in China, hoping that their high-quality, service and good offer will give a satisfactory response to Montenegro's Government.

Montenegro's Transport Minister Brajović pointed out the importance of the Bar-Boljare high-way project. With the support of the Chinese Transport Ministry and the Exim Bank, Minister Brajović voiced expectation that the forthcoming meetings with the representatives of the CCCC and the CRBC will result in a more favourable offer in terms of improving the technical and financial requirements.

The three officials agreed that the construction of the Bar-Boljare highway, that is, its priority section, will be of enormous economic importance not only for Montenegro, but also for the region in a broader sense.

There are other fields for cooperation between Montenegro and China, the three ministers agreed. The Port of Bar, which is also among crucial projects, is of great transport and economy importance for Montenegro, and for the Chinese partners it would be a gateway to the Adriatic Sea and their further connection with the Central and Eastern Europe, they concluded.
