UNDP welcomes Montenegro' progress, looks foward to continued cooperation
Podgorica, Montenegro (9 May 2013) – Montenegro and the UNDP have established good and substantial cooperation, which is confirmed by numerous projects in the areas that are crucial for Montenegro’s overall reforms and development, the meeting between Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and Cihan Sultanoglu, UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and CIS, concluded on Wednesday.
The cooperation will be continued within the Strategic Plan for the period 2014-2017, taking into account Montenegro’s new position as a middle-income country. In addition, it is important to ensure that Montenegro's European agenda remains complementary with values the UNDP promotes, the two officials agreed.
The meeting put particular emphasis on the successful implementation of projects in the field of sustainable development in Montenegro, which, in that regard, set an example for other countries of the region. Therefore, the two officials pointed out the importance of establishing a regional centre for sustainable development in Podgorica.
