Podgorica, Montenegro (16 May 2013) – Montenegro has made improvements in the finance sector and the situation is much more stable now, Aasim Husain, Deputy Director in the IMF's European Department, underlined at the meeting with Prime Minister Milo Đukanović on Wednesday. The IMF pledges continued support for Montenegro, he said, adding that organisation has a positive attitude towards the measures of fiscal consolidation enforced by the Montenegrin Government.

Prime Minister Đukanović said that his Government's agenda is concentrated on improving the quality of life of the citizens, which is accompanied by the Government’s continued commitment to EU and NATO accession process and its efforts to achieve European standards in all spheres of social life.

He informed the IMF representative about the Government’s achievements in the areas of legal security, structural reforms, economy and investment policy, emphasising that the overall reforms are the main task of his Government.

The two officials also exchanged views on strategic investment and infrastructural projects, as important preconditions for Montenegro’s overall progress.
