Montenegro and Monaco sign two cooperation agreements in Podgorica
Podgorica, Montenegro (20 June 2013) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić and Foreign Minister of Monaco José Badia signed the Framework agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco in Podgorica.
The agreement regulates conditions, funds and mechanisms for establishing cooperation between the two countries, in particular in strengthening economic, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian partnership, as well as the partnership in the fields of tourism and environmental protection. It also envisages cooperation in designing, presenting and implementing project of common interest within regional organisations and initiatives.
Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenović and Monaco’s Foreign Minister José Badia signed the Protocol on cooperation in the area of sustainable development.
The protocol provides for the mechanisms for coordinating bilateral cooperation, putting emphasis on environmental protection, spatial planning and construction, as well as on cooperation within Monaco Blue Initiative, a platform that aims to analyze and put forward the possible synergies between the protection of marine ecosystems and socio-economic development.
The protocol defines cooperation in spatial and urban planning, exchange of experiences and best practices in planning and building touristic facilities and infrastructure, organising seminars and trainings to discuss initiatives and projects of mutual interest and ensuring best experiences for the two administrations’ work.
