Montenegro, Podgorica (21 June 2013) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met earlier today with recently appointed Ambassador of India in Montenegro Ramachandran Swaminathan.

PM Đukanović stressed that the two countries have developed long-lasting and friendly relations, adding that there is room for strengthening future bilateral relations in the fields of economy, culture, education and scientific and technological cooperation. He highlighted that the arrival of Indian investors may affect further economic and sustainable development of Montenegro, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism and food production.

The two officials discussed intensifying collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and the Indian Association of Chambers of Commerce, as well as the establishment of a joint economic committee.

Ambassador Swaminathan commended the progress Montenegro achieved over the past seven years, demonstrated in achieving a respectable position in various international organisations and in pursuing integration agenda.

Political and economic stability of Montenegro represents a good basis for further development of economic cooperation. India is ready to support the overall development of Montenegro through providing training programs in IT sector and facilitating development of small and medium enterprises, the Ambassador concluded.
