CoE Development Bank willing to support improvement of standard of living, Montenegro's economic recovery

Podgorica, Montenegro, (11 July 2013) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met Wednesday with Rolf Wenzel, Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank.

The two officials agreed that Montenegro has achieved great progress on its way towards the EU and that the Development Bank is willing, through its program objectives, to support projects that will lead to long-term improvement of standard of living and more efficient economic recovery of Montenegro.

PM Đukanović thanked Governor Wenzel for Bank’s continued support in the implementation of Montenegro’s strategic goals, especially in social cohesion, improvement of quality of life and reform of education and health care systems. He added that, through intensive and responsible cooperation, Montenegro can achieve positive results in all identified areas.

Governor Wenzel announced continuation of the successful collaboration through the implementation of new projects, especially in the fields of health care and education. He commended the activities of Montenegrin institutions, which recognised the significance of the Regional Housing Project aimed at resolving issue related to refugees and internally displaced persons. He underlined that this project is highly valuated by the European Commission and the international community.

PM Đukanović highlighted that the support of the Development Bank has contributed to the maintenance of social stability and long-term economic and social development of Montenegrin society, adding that Montenegro is grateful for granted loans and donations which helped the implementation of projects crucial for resolving social issues in Montenegro.
