State Secretary Mr. Bojan Šarkić met with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of National Defense of the Republic of Greece
State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Bojan Šarkić met with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of National Defense of the Republic of Greece General Mikhail Kostarakosom who is currently on a two-day official visit to the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro.
Secretary Šarkić welcomed General Kostarakosu and expressed his satisfaction regarding the meeting. Šarkić pointed out that our partnership with the Republic of Greece is of great importance for the effective development of the defense system of Montenegro. He also stressed the importance of support that the Republic of Greece provides to us, when it comes to military training and education of Montenegrin cadets at its military academies. Furthermore, he pointed out significance of the assistance which the Republic of Greece provided during the state of emergency which occurred in Montenegro.
Additionally, Mr. Šarkić emphasized the importance of support that Greece provides to Montenegro on its path towards European and Euro-Atlantic integrations as a long-standing membership of Greece in EU and the NATO as well as the fact that the Republic of Greece was the very first point of contact between Montenegro and NATO . MR. Šarkić sad that he believes that the Hellenic Republic will continue to support Montenegro in the future. In this context, he expressed his gratitude to the military attaché, Capt (N) Tsiandulasu for the efforts he made, which contributed to the continuation of the excellent cooperation in the field of defense.
General Kostarakos expressed his gratitude to the Secretary Šarkić for having warm welcome as well as for the ongoing Montenegrin-Greek cooperation. He stated that the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Greece and its Armed Forces will be dedicated to deepening good collaboration between the two countries. The General reiterated that Greece will fully support Montenegro on its Euro-Atlantic path, in the forthcoming period.
At the end of the meeting, they agree upon the fact that Montenegro is on the right track, in terms of integration processes, and that, with the support of its partners, it will meet all the strategic goals (particularly the one referring to NATO and EU membership).
