Podgorica, Montenegro (23 July 2013) -- Relations between Montenegro and Slovakia are friendly, comprehensive and meaningful, and additional efforts in order to boost economic cooperation and complete contractual basis are to be made, Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and Slovak Justice Minister Tomáš Borec agreed at a meeting in Podgorica earlier today.
Montenegro highly appreciates Slovakia’s role in the restoration of Montenegro's independence, as well as its continued support for further democratisation and development. Transfer of Slovakia’s experiences in European and Euro-Atlantic integration is particularly valuable for Montenegro’s further dynamic progress towards full NATO and EU membership, Prime Minister Đukanović underlined.
Justice Minister Borec expressed his belief that Montenegro will open negotiations on chapters 23 and 24 by the end of 2013, and confirmed Slovakia's willingness to continue providing expert support in the areas covered by these chapters. Montenegro is on track to become a NATO member state, he pointed out, adding that Slovakia’s assistance in that regard will not fail.
