Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Montenegro in no way jeopardizes purpose and character of visa liberalisation
Podgorica, Montenegro (13 September 2013) -- Adoption of a mechanism in the European Parliament, allowing for temporary suspension of a visa waiver for third countries, that a large number of false asylum seekers come from, does not automatically mean the abolition of the visa-free regime for third countries, among which Montenegro as well.
All the countries are estimated individually and Montenegro, seen through the current implementation of the visa-free regime, is a country that in no way jeopardized purpose and character of visa liberalisation.
Visa-free regime between Montenegro and the EU Schengen zone mainly operates in line with the expectations and the country's commitments. Montenegro will, in communication with its partners, continue all the necessary activities in order to reduce irregularities to a smaller extent.
Montenegro continues efforts to achieve EU standards based on which the country has entered under a visa-free regime and seeks full compliance with the EU acquis in this area.
Montenegrin Government regularly, through monthly reports, informs the European Commission about meeting conditions under the post visa liberalisation process and there were no negative comments from the European Commission in that regard.
