UNDP Administrator: Montenegro could be next EU member

New York, the United States (24 September 2013) -- Government of Montenegro and the UNDP have developed strong partnerships which has been continually upgraded by the implementation of a significant number of projects aimed at further development of the Montenegrin society, the meeting between Prime Minister Milo and UNDP Administrator Helen Clark concluded.

Prime Minister Đukanović informed the UNDP Administrator about Montenegro’s reform process which is, in his words, highly ranked on the Government’s agenda, and primarily concentrated on the socio-economic development and improvement of the quality of life for all citizens.

UNDP Administrator Helen Clark said that UNDP recognises the efforts made by the Government of Montenegro towards improving the standard of living. She expressed belief that Montenegro will become the next member of the European Union, pledging the UNDP and the United Nations' strong support in that regard.
