Konrad-Adenauer to continue to support Montenegro through rule of law and media programmes for SEE
Podgorica, Montenegro (1 October 2013) -- German Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) will continue to support Montenegro through its rule of law and media programmes for South Eastern Europe, the meeting between Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Duško Marković and the foundation’s Deputy Head of European and International Cooperation Frank Priess concluded in Podgorica on Monday.
DPM Marković informed Mr Piess about Montenegro’s reforms in the fields of judiciary, fight against organised crime and corruption, and protection and promotion of fundamental human rights set out in the action plans for negotiating chapters 23 and 24. They also exchanged opinions on media freedom in Montenegro.
DPM Marković welcomed the intensification of relations between Montenegro and Germany at programme and expert levels, and announced soon signing of a cooperation memorandum between the two justice ministries aimed at deepening judiciary cooperation.
The cooperation between the KAS and the Government of Montenegro has been extremely successful, the two officials agreed. They also addressed future cooperation fields, with special reference to the constitutional law, reform of the Constitutional Court of Montenegro and media legislation.
