Montenegro's Government adopts negotiating positions for chapters 23 and 24

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 October 2013) – At yesterday’s session, the Government of Montenegro adopted negotiating positions for the chapter 23 - Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, as well as for the Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security.
Both documents were immediately submitted to the Lithuanian Presidency for further action.
By doing this, Montenegro has fulfilled all obligations in preparations for the opening of the two chapters concerning strenghtening the rule of law.
The European Commission is to establish a common negotiating position for the two chapters, which has to be adopted by all EU member states, in order to convene an intergovernmental gonference where the two chapters should be officially opened.
