Podgorica, Montenegro (16 October 2013) -- Advisor to Montenegro’s Prime Minister for Human Rights and Protection against Discrimination Jovan Kojičić hosted Tuesday Deputy Director of the Council of Europe’s Directorate for Political Advice Danilo Khoshaba and advisors Biljana Prlja and Dario D' Urso.
Advisor Kojićić informed the representatives of the Council of Europe’ Secretariat about the progress Montenegro achieved in the field of anti-discrimination legislation, as well as about the implemented activities aimed at continuous improvement of human rights and freedoms of all citizens of Montenegro, bearing in mind the Council of Europe’ recommendations.
The meeting also discussed the measures undertaken in the area of anti-discrimination legislation through amending the Criminal Code, as well as through drafting the Bill on Anti-Discrimination and the Ombudsman Bill.
Both sides agreed that Montenegro's progress is evident, while Advisor Kojičić pointed out that there is a lot of work to be done in order to apply best solutions in practice.
Meetings at expert level with the Delegation of the Council of Europe’s Secretariat were aimed at drafting a report on Montenegro’s cooperation and fulfillment of commitments towards the Council of Europe, which should be discussed early next year at a meeting of the Group on Democracy (GR-DEM) and later adopted at a CoE Committee of Ministers's meeting.
