US to continue supporting Montenegro on its Euro-Atlantic path

Podgorica, Montenegro (29 October 2013) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić had a working breakfast yesterday with Hoyt Brian Yee, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia. Mr Yee encouraged Montenegro to continue pursuing its Euro-Atlantic agenda and voiced US readiness to help Montenegro towards this goal, reiterating the two countries’ strong partnership and friendship.

Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić underlined Montenegro is fully committed to NATO integration and to implementing reforms in key areas. He also voiced the government’s readiness to start an open dialogue with the citizens on the issues related to NATO integration.

Mr Yee welcomed Montenegro’s integration efforts since restoring independence and commended the country’s economic development. He concluded by saying that regional cooperation of the Western Balkans countries is very important and commended Montenegro’s contribution to its development.
