DPM Lukšić: Montenegro remains OSCE's constructive partner

Podgorica, Montenegro (1 November 2013) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić hosted the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier earlier today.

DPM Lukšić thanked Mr Zannier for the assistance and support the OSCE provides for Montenegro’s overall reform process. He reiterated Montenegro’s willingness to continue the cooperation, bearing in mind that the Mission's mandate covers key areas of the country’s EU and NATO accession process.

The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that Montenegro, in line with its clearly defined foreign policy priorities, remains a constructive partner of the OSCE in order to establish a system based on democracy, rule of law and transparency. He put a special emphasis on Montenegro's commitment to regional stability and its constructive role in the region, which was given a proper treatment in the OSCE regular reports before the Permanent Council in Vienna.

OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier voiced pleasure over the quality of cooperation established between Montenegro and the OSCE in key areas of the integration process. In particular, he praised cooperation on the implementation of the MONDEM programmme, expressing belief that the continuation of the successful partnership is to contribute to resolving the issue of the destruction of surplus and obsolete weapons and ammunition.
