National Coordinator for NATO calls on media to partner Government and citizens in NATO integration process

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 November 2013) – Montenegro’s National Coordinator for NATO Nebojša Kaluđerović presented to the Montenegrin media the Government’s new approach to communicating the NATO integration process.

Mr Kaluđerović urged the media to be partner of the Government and the citizens of Montenegro in particular in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration. 

it is upon the Government and all responsible social stakeholders to be involved in the dialogue, he pointed out, as it is one of national priorities, which concerns the entire Montenegrin society and every individual.

National Coordinator for NATO underlined that only reasoned public dialogue gives citizens a chance to make an informed decision, based on full information, about joining the NATO.

He emphasised that the role of media in communicating with the general public is of great significance, urging them to support open dialogue and provide space for both advocates and opponents of NATO accession, thus becoming promoters of the process of dialogue.

Expressing satisfaction over the response of the media and their constructive approach, as well as a number of questions and suggestions, Mr Kaluđerović announced meetings the communication team will hold with representatives of the civil society academic and business communities in the coming period.
