Podgorica, Montenegro (14 November 2013) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted Wednesday the European Parliament’s Rapporteur for Montenegro Charles Tannock.

Mr Tannock commended Montenegro’s achievements in the integration process, noting that great success and remarkable progress have been made over the past seven years. He voiced confidence that the latest developments will be acknowledged in the European Parliament’s resolution on the European Commission’s report on Montenegro.

The member of the European Parliament also stressed that Montenegro has achieved good results in terms of maintaining financial stability, emphasising that some of the macroeconomic indicators could set a good example to some European countries.

Mr Tannock welcomed the Government's role in strengthening independence and professionalism of Montenegro’s judiciary, as a significant step towards improving fight against corruption and organised crime and strengthening the rule of law.

Prime Minister Đukanović reiterated that the integration process is a key priority of the Montenegrin state policy. Integration of Montenegro and the region into the EU, especially into the NATO, is a guarantee of development, regional security and economic prosperity.

"Good pace of the Western Balkan’s accession process would be beneficial for all of us, but also for the EU and NATO," the Prime Minister Đukanović pointed out.
