Prime Minister hosts Austria’s Ambassador: Western Balkans is Austria’s foreign policy priority

Podgorica, Montenegro (20 November 2013) – Montenegro has excellent bilateral cooperation with Austria, who will continue supporting Montenegro’s reforms and its bids to join the EU and NATO, the meeting between Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and Austria’s Ambassador Johann Frohlich concluded yesterday. The Ambassador noted the Western Balkans is Austria’s foreign policy priority and that it will continue strongly advocating the whole region’s integration into the EU.

Prime Minister Đukanović said Montenegro values greatly the high level of bilateral cooperation, as well as Austria’s commitment to the region and its efforts to support the region’s development.

Ambassador Frohlich underlined the two countries’ bilateral relations are excellent, noting at the same time Austria will devote particular attention to supporting Montenegro in EU accession negotiations, especially as regards Chapters 23 and 24.

The two officials agreed that economic exchange between the two countries needs to be further developed.
