Podgorica, Montenegro (20 November 2013) -- Homophobic remarks by Acting Chief of the Institution for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions Milan Radović are unacceptable, and Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Duško Marković has launched a procedure to determine his liability, the Justice Ministry announces in its press release.
Mr Radović’s remarks, posted on his Facebook page and published by the daily newspaper ”Dan”, are in contrast with the Montenegrin Government’s policy and its determination to fight systematically against all forms of discrimination.
By adopting a set of anti-discrimination laws and the Strategy for Improving Quality of Lives of LGBT Persons until 2018, as well as by providing political and institutional support for the Pride Parade, which took place in Podgorica on 20 October, the Government showed its unequivocal commitment to working hard in order to improve the position of the vulnerable group 's members and to protect their human rights guaranteed by the Constitution, the press release emphasises.
