Prime Minister Milo Đukanović in first official visit to Serbia since restoration of independence

Belgrade, Serbia (9 December 2013) – Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović will have his first official visit to Serbia since the restoration of independence today and tomorrow.

The visit comes at the invitation of Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dačić and signifies the continuation of intensive political dialogue between the two countries aimed at improving bilateral, regional, and international cooperation, as well as economic exchange.

Prime Minister Đukanović will meet Serbia’s top officials and discuss cooperation in tourism, energy, and especially transport infrastructure.

In an op-ed for Serbia’s NIN on 5 December, Prime Minister Đukanović underlined the relations between the two states are “brotherly,” and added that he looks forward to the region’s shared future within the EU.

In addition to Mr Dačić, Mr Đukanović will meet tomorrow with Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić, Speaker of the Parliament Nebojša Stefanović, and First Deputy Minister Aleksandar Vučić. The Prime Minister is accompanied by ministers of economy and tourism and sustainable development, Vladimir Kavarić and Branimir Gvozdenović.
