Montenegrin schools dedicate 10 December, Human Rights Day, to Nelson Mandela

Podgorica, Montenegro (10 December 2013) – Elementary and high schools in Montenegro will mark the Human Rights Day by dedicating the first class to the recently deceased Nelson Mandela – former president of the South African Republic and a renowned human rights activists who contributed greatly to the abolition of apartheid regime of racial segregation in South Africa.

In this way, the students will learn about the core human rights principles and hear about Mandela’s life’s work on a mission to fight for human rights. The students will also talk about Mandela and present their views on his activities.

The Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December, when in 1948 the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.
