Minister Pejanović-Djurišić met today with the newly appointed Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Janina Hrebickova .

The Minister congratulated the Ambassador Hrebickova on her appointment and wished her every success in carrying out the mission in Montenegro. She expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, particularly emphasizing the importance of cooperation in Capacity Development Programme for demilitarization and safe storage of SALW and conventional ammunition (SALW) in Montenegro - MONDEM programme. Both sides agreed that this is a very important project and experience in this area can serve as a model to support new and similar projects. Also, Minister Pejanović-Djurisic informed the Ambassador about the activities implemented by the Ministry of Defence in the implementation of defense reform, emphasizing the development of Building Integrity Initiative in defense sector and implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 of the UN, which reaffirms the role of women in building peace, stability and security.

Ambassador Hrebickova emphasized the continued cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, with the expectation that it will be furtherly intensified in her mandate. She stressed the importance of implementing MONDEM programme, stating that the results of this program contribute to regional security, which once again confirms the commitment of Montenegro for a comprehensive approach to security in the reform process. In addition, she has expressed a willingness of Mission to establish new forms of cooperation in other areas of importance for further development of the defense system.
