Munich, Germany (1 February 2014) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met in Munich with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen for talks on Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic accession process.
Secretary General Rasmussen said that NATO welcomes Montenegro's progress and successful implementation of overall reforms that will pave the way towards its full membership in the NATO. He reiterated that the alliance remains committed to the partnership, adding that Montenegro can count on the alliance’s full support in achieving its strategic objectives.
Prime Minister Đukanović said that he highly appreciates the NATO’s support for Montenegro’s good dynamics on the road to joining the alliance.
"This support is a powerful incentive to Montenegro and it contributes to its overall progress," the Prime Minister noted.
He said that 2014 will be marked by successful reforms, economic growth, democratic and overall development, and progress in the integration process.
Both sides agreed that the forthcoming meeting in Brussels, that will be held within the North Atlantic Council’s meeting, will make a significant contribution to Montenegro's further progress in the accession process.
