Bulgaria and Slovenia, Montenegro's partners countries in NATO accession process

Munich, Germany (1 February 2014) -- Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met Saturday in Munich with President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev and Slovenian Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek to discuss Montenegro’s key foreign priority - accession into the NATO.

At the meeting with the Bulgarian President, Prime Minister Đukanović pointed out the dedicated work of all public structures in achieving standards for joining the alliance: "We have made a decisive step in meeting the standards that recommend us for the membership," he added.

President Plevneliev said that Montenegro's progress in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration is a significant achievement for the whole region. He emphasised that Bulgaria and Montenegro have developed a strategic partnership. In that context, Bulgaria will be Montenegro’s voice in the international community, President Plevnelijev noted.

PR BureauSlovenia strongly supports Montenegro’s path towards membership of the European Union and NATO, particularly bearing in mind the progress that have been made, Slovenian Prime Minister Bratušek told her Montenegrin counterpart Đukanović. She pointed out that Slovenia is Montenegro’s contact point for the NATO membership and its partner in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

Prime Minister Đukanović thanked Slovenia's Government for providing continued support to montenegro, adding that Montenegro is doing everything to be ready for this year's NATO summit in Wales.
