Prime Minister Đukanović in London: EBRD’s support provides strong incentive for Montenegro’s economy
London, United Kingdom (24 February 2014) -- Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met in London with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.
Montenegro and the EBRD have established exemplary and transparent cooperation, the EBRD’S President stated, voicing satisfaction with the projects that have already been implemented. He also stressed that Montenegro can serve as a model for successful projects implementation.
Prime Minister Đukanović noted the EBRD's support for Montenegro, as well as for key investors whose projects are being implemented, is a strong incentive for the development of the Montenegrin economy.
"In that context, the EBRD’s support is important for the entire region, as it is a prerequisite for economic and democratic development, and further integration process of the region," he noted.
Both sides agreed to continue cooperation in a number of projects in the fields of energy, agriculture and tourism, as well as in the reform process regarding the banking sector rand regulatory framework.
On the sidelines of the EBRD conference on investing in the Western Balkans, Prime Minister Đukanović met with Gaetano Massara, Executive Director of General Electric Southeast Europe, who voiced interest in cooperating with the Montenegrin Government in the field of oil and gas exploitation, as well as in other areas of energy production. Krnovo wind power plants, which will be delivered and installed by a French company, will use the General Electric’s turbines, she added.
