Labour and Social Welfare Minister Bošković: Social and child care reform significant for improving quality of life

Dablin, Northern Ireland (24 February 2014) – Montenegro's Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Predrag Bošković met earlier today in Dablin with Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety Edwin Poots, and Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly William Hay MLA.
The meetings adressed activities the Montenegrin Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare is implementing in order to reform social and child care system, and advance the status of children with disabillities, disabled persons, elderly people and other vulnerable groups.
Numerous efforts have been made towards improving the status of vulnerable groups, such as providing support for the housing of childern from orphanage, home care for children with the most serious dissabilities, assistance in teaching, adapted transport for childern with disabbilities, counseling, expansion of daycare centres network and strengthening the role of foster care, Minister Bošković noted.
“The Ministry is providing funds for financing social and child care, summer and winter holidays for children with disabilities and childern from vulnerable social categories, subventions for electricity and free schoolbooks provision. In fact, we are intensivly working on legal regulations and reorganisation of institutions for social and child care, in cooperation with the UN institutions in Montenegro, as well as the civil sector,“ Minister Bošković highlighted.
The two officials agreed that exchange of experiences in the area of social care is of great importance and that cooperation between the two ministries will continue in the coming period.
During his visit to Nothern Ireland, Minister Bošković also met with Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly William Hay MLA, with whom he discussed posabilities for better collaboration between the institutions in order to increase the quality of services. They agreed that developing and improving social polices is essential for advancing the quality of life of the Montenegrin citizens.
