Podgorica, Montenegro (27 February 2014) -- The inspection authorities have issued fines worth over 200.000 EUR within the project “Citizen Involvement in Fight against Grey Economy” in which citizens report illegal economic practices.
The Government has decided to invest one half of each fine issued following a citizen report filed via the mobile and web app Be Responsible (Budi odgovoran) or phone numbers of the Administration for Inspection Affairs (080 555 555) and Tax Authority (19707) in socially beneficial projects.
The campaign invites the citizens who submit reports by 31 March 2014 to vote for project proposals and thus have their say in where the fine money will be spent.
Based on citizen initiative, a short list of project proposals has been made available for voting:
- Purchase of gastroenterology and colonoscopy equipment for the Child Care Institute of the Montenegrin Clinical Centre;
- Purchase of didactic equipment and outdoors fittings for all pre-school institutions in Montenegro;
- Reconstruction and redesign of the psycho-geriatrics department of the Retirement Home in Risan;
- Reconstruction and redesign of day-care centres for children and youth with disabilities in the municipalities of Cetinje, Nikšić, and Plav;
- Landscaping of the Ćemovsko Polje park.
The public campaign “Be Responsible. It’s up to you. Grey economy 0%,” which invites the citizens to participate in a socially responsible project for collecting funds for socially beneficial projects, will last until 1 May 2014.
The campaign is part of the project “Citizen Involvement in Fight against Grey Economy,” which is being implemented by the Government of Montenegro, Faculty of Electrical Engineering Podgorica, and UNDP Montenegro.
